2. JOHN T2 LAWS (ALPHEUS A1) was born September 16, 1855 in Mercer County, Kentucky, and died March 10, 1934 in Jackson Twnshp, Franklin, Ohio. He married IDA UNKNOWN 1885. She was born 1862, and died 1955.

Notes for HOWARD LAWS:
Howard enlisted in the U. S. Army on September 21, 1917 in Columbus, Ohio. He was in the Supply Company 324 Field Artillery until January 10, 1918. He was then sent to Motor Instruction School in Peoria, Illinois until March 19, 1918, then went back to 324 Field Artillery. He was promoted to Corporal on May 5, 1918, then Ordnance Sergeant on May 23, 1918. He served in Meuse-Argonne from June 12, 1918 to May 22, 1919. He received an honorable Discharge on June 4, 1919.


3. GEORGE W2 LAWS (ALPHEUS A1) was born 1861 in Mercer County, Kentucky. He married HATTIE EBERLY, daughter of WILLIAM EBERLY and NANCY BOYD. She was born May 04, 1869 in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, and died October 11, 1951 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Notes for DOUGLAS K LAWS:
Douglas enlisted with the U. S. Marines on May 6, 1917. He went to Paris Island S.C. for training, and was then placed in the 75th Company, 6th Regiment, at Quantico, Virginia. He was promoted to Corporal on February 16, 1918. He was killed in action during WWI in France on June 14, 1918. ---"killed in action in line of duty not result of misconduct--Remains buried on Hill #181, Meaux Map #49. In woods of Bois De Belleau, NE of Lucky-Le-Boeage. Character would have been excellent on discharge".

During the 1920s, the Gold Star Mothers' Association lobbied for a federally sponsored pilgrimage to Europe for mothers with sons buried overseas. In 1929 Congress enacted legislation that authorized the secretary of war to arrange for pilgrimages to the European cemeteries "by mothers and widows of members of military and naval forces of the United States who died in the service at any time between April 5, 1917, and July 1, 1921, and whose remains are now interred in such cemeteries". Douglas' mother Hattie accepted, and left New York, New York June 6, 1930 on the ship, President Harding for Cherbourg, France, and returning July, 12, 1930 on the ship President Roosevelt to New York, New York.

4. HARROD WILLIAM3 LAWS (GEORGE W2, ALPHEUS A1) was born November 1893 in Mercer County, Kentucky. He married ISABELLA SULLIVAN. She was born 1901 in South Carolina.
