The contact for Amhurst Cemetery is listed below, I am not sure that Betty is still doing it but if not she should be able to point you in the right direction. I am 99.9% sure that there is not headstone for your Dorcas as I only found her name int he burial register not in the headstone register.

Amherst Cemetery
Mrs Betty Fleming,
Secretary,
P.O. Box 53,
Talbot 3371

The whole certificate would be wonderful - thank you.

When you work out how to scan I would like a copy of Dorcas death certificate. It isn't that hard really - I can walk you through it over the phone, which I have done with many people.

Anyway - I am glad to have been of some help and don't hesitate to ask. Starting off is always daunting but my most valuable piece of advise I can give you is to always and I mean always record where you get any information from regardless of how small. If it is off a web site, then record the location (url), the persons name and their email address and most importantly the date you found the information.

Hi Heather,

You maybe able to write to the Geelong Cemetery for information on his grave, who purchased it, if it is a perpetuity on it, if it is a single grave or multi one, if he is alone or not, etc.

The Geelong Cemetery website http://www.gct.net.au/search.html#deceased has a link on it that you can contact them on.

If I can be any further help.
Best of luck.

Hi Heather

Is this your gg grandfather
Deceased Details
Cemetery Geelong Eastern Cemetery
Location COEO*X***X
Register # 96490
Surname PANKHURST
Given Names JOSEPH
Service Date 15 Feb 1865
Date of Birth
Date of Death 13 Feb 1865
Age 43

This entry indicated he is in the COE section but does not give a grave number, so it is very likely he is in an unmarked grave. I am over 2hr drive from Geelong so it is not possible for me to go there.

Sorry it is not more but hope this is of some help to you.

Hi Heather,

Yes I have some details for Amherst Cemetery.

If you would like to send me the details to my email address
genstudies@optusnet.com.au
with the details I look to see if I have their records. Do you have a death certificate for them - if so I also collect them to match up with records I have, as a confirmation.

Scan the certificate and save it as a pdf file and then send it with your request details and I will see what I can find for you.

Regards Anja

Hi Heather. We may be more than Genealogy Wise friends, my Grt Grt Grandfather was Arthur Laverty. Arthur was born in Antrim, Nth Ireland and died in a mining accident at Butchers Gully, Fryers Town, Victoria. His Daughter, Sarah Jane Laverty, became my Grt Grandmother.
Have a great day---- Tony.
