In my database I have a large number of duplicate marriages. Typically I have the persons names, a marriage date and a marriage location along with a source reference. What I don't have with these marriage records is a birth, baptism or death date, which seem to be the required auto merge fields. Any suggestions how I might automate the merging of these duplicate marriage records??See More
"I just found the solution to the problem which was a syntax error.....to add a SSN record you must have the following (Bolded section) in the GEDCOM.
0 @50000@ INDI1 NAME Eugene E /Gittens/2 GIVN Eugene E 2 SURN Gittens1 SEX M1 BIRT 2 DATE May…"
I wonder if anyone could help with this problem. I have downloaded all of the SSDI records for my family name "Gittens" into an excel spreadsheet and thereafter created a GEDCOM to import this data into legacy. The gedcom import worked really well with one exception. The SSN data did not import and the 2 NOTE record which follows the SSN attribute in the gedcom was not recognized by the import program. Here is an example of my gecom for a single individual.0 @50001@ INDI1 NAME Charity…See More
I was fairly sure that everyone in my BEST family research was entered into Legacy as either a husband and wife or a child with at least one parent. I "assumed " that these would be defined as linked individuals, whereas a…"
"Glad that you are having some success. Is there a reason why you did not include a search for unlinked individuals as I suggested? I am not entirely certain, but it seems to me that this group of "islands" would not have parents either,…"
Thanks for the suggestion. Although the suggestion did not fully satisfy my requirement it did provide a good starting point. Here's what I did:
Produced a list of "Linked individuals with no parents" using…"
"I am not absolutely sure this will find all of them!
Search>Find>Miscellaneous; check radio button "Linked individuals with no parents"
On the new screen use Search>Find to take you back to the Miscellaneous Screen…"
I am trying to produce a list using Legacy's Search/find/Detailed Search function to create a listing of all persons with a specific surname (in this case the surname is BEST) who don't have any parents linked to them. Seems easy enough but I can't seem to accomplish it. Could anyone suggest how this might be done?See More
I have tried multiple times to join the Legacy User Group. I complete the registration process and get the e-mail confirming membership but I never get any e-mail from the group. I have posted a couple of queries to the user group but I am not sure whether they ever got to the User Group. I had Legacy Support manually add me to the User Group but that did not work either. Support told me they can't do anything more. Very confusing why I can't seem to register and join the group. See More
I made this same query to the TNG User Group. I received a wealth of information about the issue as there seems to be many Legacy Users who also use TNG, which is not surprising as both Legacy and TNG are excellent products.
"Legacy allows you to withhold details for the living, which I suspect that you know. There is no such thing as a "Living Flag". If you have set a person to be deceased then my first reply applies. If they are not set as dead then they are…"
I am sorry the question was not clear. I hope the following will help.
I want to export a Legacy gedcom to another piece of software without exporting details on living individuals, but I would like the other software to be able to…"
