I recently came across another Lithuanian-American family named Virginski who apparently changed it from Wadzinski. Does that sound right? I know my grandmother used to say they spelled the name with a "W" back in the old days.

Thanks for the great advice. I didn't realize how spoiled I was with the ease of finding my French-Canadian, Irish, and Scottish ancestors until I started working on the Lithuanian branch.

Thanks, Richie! I'll start keeping track of other Virginskis (and similar names) even if I don't think they're related, and see if I can figure out where the name originated.

My grandmother's family came to Massachusetts also (Stoughton, next to Brockton), and I was born in Brockton myself. My problem is still figuring out what part of Lithuania they came from.

They lived in Norwood, Norfolk County, Massachusetts. The name is sometimes spelled Verginski (like in the U.S. Census of 1910 and 1930) or Verginsky, and my dad says my grandmother used to spell it Wirginski.

My great-grandparents were Joseph Virginski (b. 1868, immigrated 1880)) and Annie Milnius (b. 1870, immigrated 1895). I have no information about their parents whatsoever, so if anyone has any information, I would appreciate it.

Sir Charles Douglas and the Baronets of Carr

I have come across different information about my ancestor, Rear-Admiral Sir Charles Douglas, and where he was born in 1727. Some sources say he was born in Perthshire and others in Fifeshire. His parents were living in Kinglassie, Fife, but when he was made a baronet in 1777, it was of Carr, Perthshire. Does anyone have any information that might help clear this up? Thanks!

I assume Patrick Blunt had a Civil War pension, thus a Civil War pension file. All the pension file's I've seen have significant personal informaiton. Found his pension index card in the ancestry database.
If you haven't ordered his pension file, do so hope you will.
Irish ancestries that successfully cross the pond are so important! Hope when you learn the ...rest of the story ... you'll consider publishing a write up about your Patrick and his family in one of your local journals. --GJ
