I believe its Stamford, England. I get the Johnson surname a couple of ways, through my Grandmother and through my Grandfather. On my Grandmother's I can go back to, I believe its Stamford, England where a couple of my ancestors were Mayor of that city. On my Grandfather's side, I've come to a Brick wall at my 4th Great Grandfather, James Johnson Sr.I'm always following up on leads and was wondering if anyone else may connect to Stamford, England? "Lewis Johnson, who died defending the Alamo was indeed from Illinois Territory, NOT Wales. The person who aided my genealogy research Dr. Johnnie Reeves and I both advised the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, that Lewis was from Illinois…"
Hopkins, Tilley, Rogers, & (oh, heck now I have to check again!). I also have connections with the Brewsters and Aldens (related by way of sisters). I get a kick out of learning through genealogy, because there is a family connection to these folks we read about in books. When I began my research (back in high school), I only had about 75 people, now I have over 107,000. Its a good thing I became a History major in college! See More

"Well, son of a gun, ME TOO! Of course this is the small list. Though I haven't found the Wahlbergs connection yet! Perhaps you could fill me in a little. Maybe I can add you to my list of relations. Pick a name of one of the above, and perhaps…"

For what reason did you start genealogy research?
While in high school, my history teacher said, "The best way to learn history is to learn your own." Over 38 years later, I'm still learning. Neither of my Grandmothers wanted me to do the research because they were afraid I'd find a Horse Thief in the family, which isn't fair, it took 37 years of research to find one. " Heck, that was them.... they ain't me!
