Marilyn....you might just to see if there is a reenactment group for Capt. Edw T. Miller's Co D, Augusta Artillery Battalion, 27th Battalion GA Inf.
If there is they may also have info on him. Worth a shot.

Marilyn you might try the Adjutant General of the state where they served.Compiled Military Services Records might be at NARA but any pension would have come from the state.

Marilyn.....CW records (if they kept them) should have his enlistment and any other info on him while he was in the Confed. It might also have any info on his hospital stay and death.

Marilyn...What state was the 16yr old from?

Marilyn....I don't know if there would be a pension for him. My gr grandfathers twin brother died during the CW and there is no pension file for him. He never married and his parents didn't apply.
Like I said before. The records on footnote are good but what I got from NARA were way more complete.

Just an FYI, I have an index book to Civil War Veterans and Widows in Southern Ohio, 1890 Federal Census. I also have the Booklet with the Confederate Cemeteries in Ohio. Those being Camp Chase and Johnson Island.

Marilyn--even though he was KIA there may have been pension requests filed by his family. I think for Confederate records you need to check the state in which he was enlisted. Not sure if NARA would have any. Any time you can get a full record you are better off.

The records I got were more complete then what I saw on Footnote. I think it's well worth the money. Or you can try your states archives. I know WV didn't have my gr grandfathers. But once I found out they didn't I donated a copy of mine.

I traced the process and it said "servicing".

This is exciting.

LOL I know how you feel. I sent for mine. But the wait was worth it.
