What does Klamparen mean?

Dear Jennifer,

A klampare is a person, who works in the sawmill and sorts pieces of wood which are cut out in different shapes and sizes.

Only thing I could find was a property (building) Kamparen 10 that is located on Kungsholmen in central Stockholm and the District court of Stockholm occupies it.  It said Fabege bought the property from GE real estate.  It looked like that happen in 2006.  So I don't know how far back you are trying to go or how they did the land in Sweden back in the day.  But maybe you could look up the land in that area for the year that you are looking at.  Just an idea.  Good Luck!

Hi Jennifer,

 

When I checked Nordisk Familjebok for Klampare it said:

A foreman or supervisor at a lumberyard whose task it is to oversee the sorting of wood that is left over from the saw mill. This sorting was organized into six classifications. The classifications vary according to the production.

Looks like this occupation was similar in Sweden and Denmark,
