I have researched this area for forty years along with bordering colonies during the 18th-century. Namely, NC, PA, MY, SC and GA. The Shenandoah Valley has a history that is so rich with documentation and records. I want to share a list of surnames living in this area during the years of 1730 to 1740. This list is small in comparison to the actual number of families who were living in this area between 1730 and 1740. After 1745, the population skyrocketed to a vast number of people migrating southward. Many of my files on hand contain family genealogy and historical documentation.
