Something for newbies (and some others) is that a family name is their SURNAME, not SIR NAME, although it does sort of fit the idea, doesn't it?!
Cheers,
Gary Smith (with ancestors on Swearing Creek, Anson/Rowan/Davidson Co. mid to late1700s)

I'm researching the Brock family in North Carolina, mostly in Orange County. Any one here researching the Brock family?

Anyone here researching LEE's? Mine married John YORK in Rutherford County, NC in 1805 - her name was Rachel LEE -- I can trace them after the marriage, just not before...anyone else doing these 2 names? Acutally, the John YORK is related to Seymor YORK (I forget the dates, sorry.)

I am descended from the Bakers who lived in the Chowan and Gates Counties area of NC. My direct ancestor is Lawrence Baker who was the Gates County Clerk until his death in 1807.
