Yes it has been a while, Brenda. I miss our monthly chats although I'm sure you don't miss getting up in the middle of the night. :)

Hi Pamela

Great to see you are doing the course! Hope you enjoy it. Long time since ProGen days

Hi. I, too, am taking the Social Networking course. I have completed the 40 courses for the American Records certificate last year. I am hoping the rest of the German courses become available soon so that I can complete that certificate, too. I live in a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio. I love genealogy and have been researching for about 30 years.

Hi, I, like many others here, am enrolled in the Social Media course and, also, Methodology 2. Last month, I did my first course with NIGS (Methodology 1) and loved it. My passion for genealogy goes far back, but in the last few years, I hadn’t time to work seriously on my family history. A few months ago, I started again. I still consider myself a beginner and my main goal, for now, is to learn as much as possible on genealogical methodology. I’m enrolled in the Canadian Records Certificate and I want, eventually, to become a professional genealogist (a retirement job as interesting as my present job, but less stressfull).

P.S. I’m a French Canadian. It’s my first attempt to participate in an english social network and my writing is as it is… not perfect!

Hi, I am Sue Clark, from the Central New York (State), and I am currently taking the Social Media course.  It's been a good experience.  I have dabbled a little in this area and am trying to do more.  My favorite medium is reading blogs.  I am in the advanced phase of taking courses from NIGS and have been happy with the experience - even though it has taken me a long time to get this far.

Hi, I am Christine Burns from New Zealand and I am currently taking the Social Media course at the National Institute.  This course has been a huge learning curve for me, almost overwhelming at times, but it has introduced me to many new things which I had heard about but didn’t know how to start using them.  I am looking forward to becoming more involved in these areas.  I have been researching my families for some years  and am currently working on my husband’s Burns family from Derbyshire, England.

Hi, I'm also taking the Social Media course and I am very impressed with it. I was not using any social media before this, so I've really had to stretch. I recently earned an AA in Computer Information Systems and a certificate in Library Science, so, fortunately, that has given me a lot of experience with the computer and research techniques. I have taught several genealogy research classes as well as helped many individuals in their research. I've been researching my family on and off for over 40 years and have volunteered at a regional Family History Center for the last 9 years. I have been able to help a lot of people do their research and find it very rewarding. I live in the Sacramento, CA, area.

Like many others here, I'm also taking the Social Media course. It's the first time I've tried an NIGS course. I've been researching my family for about 7 years, but ramped up my efforts significantly about 2 years ago (and added my husband's family). I live in Columbus, Ohio.

I am taking the Social Media class at this time. It is the first one I have taken from NIGS. I am enjoying being able to learn from home.
