Genealogy Wise

The Genealogy & Family History Social Network

Hi, I'm new to the group, & I think this is my first post on GenealogyWise, though I have been a member for a while.

I'm getting myself in a bit of a mess, I've upgraded from 2005 - 2010 & while I'm happy with most things I'm having problems with facts. In 2005 version I entered each Census in turn, but they all came under the same title of Census, these have succesfully been transfered to 2010, but I'm having problems showing them on the facts pane. Obviously I enter Census and the first one appears, but how do I get the other entries to appear, if I add census again it does not pick up the next entry.
I hope I've explained, well enough for someone to help?
Regards
Colin

Coliin,

You should see ALL FACTs in the People Workspace, Person Tab, in the list of FACTs.

What FACT did you use when you Entered the Census information?

Russ
Thank you Russ, that was helpful, but is there a way to see those same facts, but on the right hand side bit (where it says Customise View)?

Colin
Colin,

The FACTs are in the Upper Center Panel. The RH Panel is used for the Source-Citation based on the Selected FACT. (People, Person Tab)

Where are you talking about (Customize View)??

Russ
I'm not doing this very well am I,

I've tried to attach a pic of what I'm talking about, I'd like to see them inthe red bit

Colin,

That's the People Workspace, Family View, and yes, you CAN add FACTs there (lower part of that screen). However, yo may find that it gets pretty cluttered.

Please remember that there are two different views, in the People Workspace. The Family View, which it what you posted, and the Person View. A good view of the Family involved, or and the Details of the Person or Individual.

Russ
Thanks for your help, Russ, I'll just have to get used to it a bit more.
Colin,

It gets easier with time and experience.

I do have a Blog on Family Tree Maker

Good luck,

I must say I have upgraded to 2010 from ver 16,and finding it difficult or should I say different at the moment,it is a case of getting used to it.The old saying comes to mind "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"
John,

I agree with the old saying. The problem is, the Old version WAS "broken". The software was based on DOS applications. The new version is on a current platform. We, as users, may not have seen it, but we have had more updates for versions since 2008, then we had with previous versions. Each update, within a Version number had new features. The developers know how to program on the new platform and turn the updates out quicker.

Please give 2010 a chance. I have been using Family Tree Maker since Version 3.4. But I have moved all of my work into Version 2010.

Thanks for listening.

Russ
