Hi all,

One of my connections with Buckland Brewer is through my gr grandmother Bertha Chapple (she married James Churchill), but Bertha's father George Chapple born 1855 (he married Emily Braddon) and Bertha's gr grandfather Henry Chapple born 1804 (he married Rebecca Broom) were all from Buckland Brewer.

Would love to hear from anybody with connections to this family.

Hi all,
My LEMON ancestors lived in Buckland Brewer from about the mid 18c for around 100 years, they were also spread around the surrounding villages such as Frithelstock. Would love to hear from anyone related to or interested in this name. Also of the Barnstaple area.

Hi, i plan to visit Buckland Brewer soon as i only live in Hartland so it will be really interesting to see. My Frains were shown in Tythacott village in 1861 and again in 1881 so i would of presumed they hadnt moved in that time. They only made it as far as Putford after that, so never moved far!,

I've added a modern picture of Tithecott Mill to my page - rather obscured by trees I'm afraid but the best I could do.

Hi - in Morris and Co.'s Commercial Directory and Gazetteer. 1870, there are the following entries for Tythecott:
BOND Samuel, miller
SMITH George, farmer, Palmers
TUPLEN Wiliam Lawrence C., farmer, Thythecott mill

Yes, Tythacott.Tithecott (and various similar spellings) is a small group of cottages, one of which was once a mill.

Hi Janet,

Is this the same asTythacott Mills where William Cole an family lived in the early 1840s?

There's an Ashton's Terrace and Frains Farm - both in the centre of the Village - Tythacott is about 3 miles further south on the edge of the parish.

Hi, im am researching both the Ashton and Frain family of Buckland Brewer and surround. I have an 1861 Census of Henry and Ann Frain living at Tythacott, Buckland Brewer. Anyone else researching these families?

Hi Janet,

I am still working on getting the birth and marriage PRs of the Cole family members that I have as well as the ones you provided me. I did contact the registry office, but haven't gotten any yet. However, I do now have the banns document for William Cole and Charity Heal from a cousin in Toronto. I also have a birth document for their daughter Anne Cole from another cousin in Kitchener ON..

I am now wondering if the Cole and Manning families of Tithecott Mill ever intertwined? Do you or anyone else know, if so, I would appreciate very much being informed.
