I'm tracing the Samuel and Nancy Kountz Bowker family line. Samuel Bowker b. 1811, Columbiana Co., OH m. Nancy Kountz (b. 1811, MD? or??) 24 Nov 1831. Samuel was a shoemaker, per Census records. By 1860 the family was living in Henry County, OH. By 1870, Nancy is widowed, but I cannot find the date of death for Samuel nor any information on his burial. By 1880, I can no longer find Nancy, and most of the children are scattered far and wide.

I would like to find who was Samuel's father? There is an Isaiah Bowker in Columbiana Co., OH (died there in 1845), and per others' pedigree charts on Ancestry.com, he had a son named Samuel, but it is a different Samuel. The dates of birth are too different, and there are other differences as well.

On FamilySearch.org I located a Tax Record for Columbiana Co., OH, for the year 1827-1828 listing a JOHN BOWKER, and I thought I'd hit paydirt. But in the Census records for Ohio, both the 1820 and the 1830, there is no John Bowker recorded. Either he slipped through the cracks, or...?? Interestingly, Samuel & Nancy's firstborn is named Isaiah, and their second born is named John. Are there other Bowker Family researchers out there who would like to compare Ohio Bowker Family notes with me? I have a great deal of information on Samuel's children, grandchildren, gr-grands, etc! Thank you, and I hope I shall hear from you. If emailing is more convenient, my email is writestuf2@yahoo.com. Thanks!
