Hello Helpers I am John Bucksey.
I am looking for the descendants of my Uncle Ernest Alfred Nicholls who I believe came to Australia in 1912 and married Elizabeth Mary Alice Rook in Sydney 1939. I believe Ernest died in Nowra NSW in 1967 and Elizabeth in Peak Hill NSW in 1970. All help will be gratefully received.

Thanks a lot Wayne for your information. The only query is Elizabeths Death says Father George Mother Claudine Mable and that 1906 Birth says Father James and Mother Annie Redfurn.
The rest of the details certainly relate to my Uncle and all I to do now is locate his children.
Once again, Thanks a lot.
John
Hi John,

I noted that Ernest's death was recorded in Milton near Nowra in 1967. I thought it strange that his wife would then be found living in Peak Hill which is quite a distance away. Have checked a listing of newspaper death notices and found the following.

NICHOLLS Elizabeth Mary Alice Death notice 21JUN2002 Funeral late of Milton, formerly of Darlington and Haberfield posted in the Sydney Morning Herald 20JUN2002.

Given that both dies in Milton I'd say this is the Elizabeth you're looking for. She would have been approx. 96yrs of age.
Hope this helps
Lyn
Thanks Lyn.
I had no idea that she lived so long . Had I have known I would have tried to find her earlier. All I need to trace now are her children (my Cousins) You certainly are very quick off the mark and I thank you for it. All the best John
Thanks for all your help Lyn. I wish I could be of some help to you but as I am now in South Africa I am sure you have better access to UK records than me. I am a member of GOONS but I see you already have contacted the Boxall researcher. Anyway please keep in touch. All the best. John
Hi John, could the following be him
NICHOLLS Ernest Alfred : Service Number - 6408 : Place of Birth - London England : Place of Enlistment - Melbourne VIC : Next of Kin - (Father) NICHOLLS Alfred ( record states Queens Rd Peckham )

If so, his war record is open and you can search it on
http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/recordsearch/index.aspx
Thanks Ellie.
Yes thats him and thanks to my Austalian helpers have full details on him and his wife, I only have to trace their children.
Thanks for your help. John
Hi John

My mother is Mary Nicholls's cousin. Mum's name is Elsie Sheridan (nee Rook). Her father and Mary's father were brothers. We only ever knew her husband as Nick, that's what Mary called him. Mary and Nick were married on 17 October 1937 and they never had any children.

As far as I know Nick died in Milton, New South Wales in 1967 and Mary continued living there until her death on 19 June 2002.

Nick and Mary were both great voluntary workers for the local hospital. Nick was the Coroner in Milton.

Before they moved to Milton and even before they married they both lived in Sydney at Haberfield where they had a business.

It is great to be able to contact you, I hope this information is helpful.

Best wishes, Carol Crook
Hi Carol,
Great to hear from you. Your information adds to what I know. I am sorry I did not have contact with Mary after my Mum died but I thought she also had died years ago otherwise I would have tried earlier to locate her. Do you or your Mum have any photos of Mary and/or Nick. If so would it be possible for you e mail them to me at
bucksey@telkomsa.net
Once again thanks for your help.
John
Hi John
Mary would have loved to have had contact with you too. I didn't have a photo just of myself, so the one I have put up is 4 generations in our family i.e. mum sitting, my son standing with me and mum nursing my first grand child (she is nearly 3 now). I will certainly look up some photos and send them to you as soon as I can.
Carol
Hello Pamela,
His parents were Alfred Edward born 24.8.1864 Royston And Maria Maslin born 20.08.1863 Southwark.
Where do you fit in to all this?
Best Wishes
