This is my Grandmother's grandmother and I have tried for YEARS to find information on her and have been unable to. My Grandmother didn't know her much and this is one of about 5 bricks walls in my tree that are really frustrating me.

The facts that I do have:

Born: 19 Jan 1870, Kemper County, Mississippi
Death: 16 Aug 1955, Kemper County, Mississippi

I "do know" that I think she was married to a man with the last name McLillis before marrying my GG-Grandfather: Clay Jackson Hicks.

Other than that I'm stumped. I've tried looking through censuses to see if I could find her as a child, but I've been unsuccessful. Hopefully someone here might be able to see something I'm not able to?

I did find some interesting information... According to the Kemper County Genealogy website and Shepherd Cemetery where Janie and Clay are buried, it says her date of birth and date of death are different than what I have. I think I have my information from an Uncle. Here is what it says:

Hicks, Clay Jackson Apr. 4, 1870 - June 20, 1957 , Note. Clay Jackson Hicks is buried between Lenner Hicks (1st wife) and Janie Hicks (2nd wife) *Janie, Lenner)

Hicks, Janie Partridge 1880 - Feb. 14, 1945 (*Clay J., Lenner)
Wow, thank you both so much! What a help! And I would have never found that "Portradgh" listing! Now I know her parents names!

And, of course, there goes the next brick wall! Figuring out more about her parents!
Funnily enough I had found her father before, but somewhere along the line I thought I had her birth year wrong, I think I checked my Mother's notes from when she did genealogy and saw that my date of birth was incorrect when I was trying to double-check that her father was really John Partridge, because when I came across it, it almost seemed too good to be true, because no one in my family has been able to find out who her parents were, and it had fallen in my lap while I was searching one night. I actually had someone contact me on my page saying they had John Partridge's line traced back to the 1700's and I felt silly because I thought I had her birth year wrong! Well, I was right!
