I have a somewhat complicated family history on my mother's side. She was an intra-family adoption. Her parents were Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Reed of Logansport, Cass County, and Ruth Nave of South Bend, St. Joseph County. "Frank" Reed was killed in a railroad accident in 1917, and my grandfather's family took my mother, who was just a small child, away from Ruth Nave by 1920. My mother was adopted by "Frank" Reed's oldest brother, Perry Wilmer Reed, and his wife Mary LeSourd. The LeSourd family was from Carroll County. Levi Curtis LeSourd and Rachel Anna Sleeth, his wife, were Mary's parents.
