The Genealogy & Family History Social Network

I found some great software used to set up a genealogy website. It's pretty easy to use (at least for me). I've seen what other people have done and haven't been too impressed. This one has great functionality. I've put two trees out there, one on my mother's side and one on my father's side. Right now I'm letting anyone search it. Hopefully someone will contact me who's seen it. It does have higher security that you can control.

It's called The Next Generation. So if you'd like, go out there and see for yourself. www.tad-doolittle-horn-project.com

William,
When I first uploaded I had two trees, but have now merged them on Family Tree Maker and have uploaded that one. Yes the problem was multiples of myself and my siblings and their children. I agree one tree is better. I do have starting points for either my mother's or father's side just to make it easier for cousins to access their ancestors. I wouldn't doubt that I may get into customization since I do build websites, but not enough time for that now.

I also want to maintain offline and then upload periodically. Since I use Family Tree Maker its easy to integrate with Ancestry when looking for documents.

I, too, use TNG, though I keep my database with Legacy, uploading regularly, rather than doing it on-line. I feel safer that way!

Many people seem to keep their parents lines separately, as you have. But I find that the further back I go, the more names appear on both sides. They then have to be added twice. Or am I missing something?

My site is fairly heavily customised, but one does need to understand a bit of php and html to achieve that. But if I can teach myself that, so can anyone else!

Yours aye,

William

The software itself costs 29.99 which is really a good price for a system like this. Then the hosting is just less than $5 per month which is pretty good.

I take it you have to pay to use this program.

I use TNG as well. It's an excellent way of putting information on the 'net and very easy to customize. I've had quite a few folks write to me based on the information on my site.
