Early Founders Marker - Calvary Cemetery

For those unaware, my last entry on the Early St. Louis website noted that a memorial marker was placed at Calvary cemetery on June 20th to honor the Early Founders of St. Louis.

Connie Nisinger, who has done a great deal of photographing headstones in Bellefontaine and Calvary, kindly sent me photos of the new monument.

I took the names inscribed on the headstone photo, and extracted information from Frederic L. Billon's book to include the information of those persons. Some of which are: Bequet, Beaugeneau, Chouteau, Gamache, Dodier, Kiersereau, Picard etc.

Note: Clicking on the photo will present a close up photo of the names on the monument. Many thanks to Connie, as always, for her photographs. A link to her Find A Grave entries for all those included on the monument is also found in the links at the bottom of the page.

Hope you enjoy,
Patti

I love those wonderful volunteers who photograph headstones for those far away. That's how I got every one of my photos. I have never been able to see any of them in person, not even my dad's. I cried for days after they were emailed to me. What a gift! I would be very willing to help do the same & take photos of headstones locally in Utah. My motto is share all good things. Someone did this very kind gesture for me & I want to pass it along. How do I get the word out?
