Lynn,
Thanks for all your input.

To give you a better idea of where I am in the gen. process I will tell you more about my situation.

1) ALL my ancestors on both sides are from 6 counties in Sweden:

E                      Östergötlands Län
F                      Jönköpings Län
was L              Kristianstads Län
I                       Gotlands Län
W                    Dalarnas Län, formerly Kopparbergs Län
X                     Gävleborgs Län

2)  For several years I have had subscriptions to Genline, Arkiv Digital, Ancestry.com global, and SVAR.  I use Family Tree Maker 2012;  I own the EMIBAS cd.  I have Your Swedish Roots,, andCradled in Sweden, and The Source: A Guidebook to American Genealogy.   I had one tofootnote.com but I think that has expired.  I am at least familiar with SCB, Cyndi's list, Algonet, Rootsweb, Family Search and of course Lantmateriet.  (Just 'cause I have them doesn't mean I know what is in them.)  I also attend a monthly group discussing Swedish genealogy in Maryland, unfortunately none of us speak Swedish.

3) Despite these resources I struggle with locating and especially transliterating and translating documents that I have located.  I have located many of the HFL documents,  and I paid Genline to translate one set of HFLs, but was disappointed that they could not make out a lot of it either.  I am also hindered that records were lost in 2 of my important parishes from fires in the late 1800s,  I have found 3 boupptekning and had one translated.  The one translated was Johannes Jonasson  ( d. 7-7-1848 ) that you helped with on the historic map.   One (of many) problems is that apparent facts in the probate seem not to match well with apparent facts in the historic map document or HFL.  The translation is incomplete and full of gaps, but I cannot see any sign of the property or location in the historic map.

According to the translation the bouppteking was: "...Conducted at the Torp Lilletorp under Gunnastorps  at Gvarlåten kapen.." which is different from any other places otherwise associated with Johannes.  I am assuming the boupp. was just executed at some place other than his home at death;  maybe the widow had moved??  but I do not know how that was normally done.

enough..I could go on for a long time but that gives you an idea of what little I know and mostly don't know.

Thanks for your interest.

@Lynn,

Thanks for the message.  I did email you a summary of my genealogy activities to your hotmail account on Jan 24.  Let me know if I should send it someplace else. Some of the pages of interest in the  06-nol-21 map are SID 74, 87, and 88.  Generally anyplace the name Johannes Jonasson appears.

Oh Lynn, this is marvelous, thank you so much.   Now I am all the more anxious to see even more.  Would I be asking too much, to wonder if I could send you the page numbers for 2 or 3 other pages in the same text where I have seen the name Johaness Jonasson.  I totally understand if this is asking too much, and thank you again profusely for the translation.

-Thank you Lynn.  The 06-nol-21 map I referenced is a dejavu file on Lantmateriet.  It has a map on page 1 then ~100 pages of text describing land reform changes on the farm.  Because  I recognize only a few words in Swedish I am unable to make much of the text, other than I can see the name  Johannes Jonasson  in several places.   I think Swedish lessons are in my future.

Thanks for responding  Lynn.    One of the maps of interestto me is 06-nol-21  at http://historiskakartor.lantmateriet.se/arken/s/show.html?archive=REG&showmap=true&searchType=d&nbOfImages=100&sd_base=lm06&sd_ktun=0003sn0o

My ancestor related to Orsbyholm is Johannes Jonasson.  That name is found in several places  in the writeup,  but I think there were more than one person with that name and I cannot read if Jonas was a farm owner or tennant or where on the map would be his property.   Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Lynn,

I sent a friend request but failed to add my message.  I saw you have expertise in Swedish Geography and I was wondering if you have experience interpreting old farm maps and reading the land reform documents  from Lantmäteriet.  I need a lot of help.

Thanks

Erv

Helo. I have subscribed to the Ancestors Swedish newsletter. I still don't know the parish of my ancestor, Lars Karlsson Lock. I also have no Bible records, letters, or anything that would identify where he came from. I only found out I was part Swedish when I traced back Isaac Lock and Nancy Gapen Lock. What would you suggest?
