That is really great insight. I'm pretty sure that the people in Store 1 are the same as the people in Store 2. I thought Store 1 was a bakery, but tea makes a lot of sense. Thanks!

Hi Katie Preliminary timelines so far, I'd say The H. Scott photograph would be post 1879 (when gas street lights were first used), but likely pre-1900. Somewhere somewhat rural perhaps as the woman's clothing looks that way. The first…

Help identifying 3 photos

Thumbnail
I have 3 family photos that I am trying to identify by date and location. The first 2 are, I believe, of the same family. The 3rd one, H. Scott, seems to be a different era and I suspect, a different family. Possible locations are NJ, OH, NY, MD, and DE.I had to make the files small to upload them, but I can e-mail larger images. Thanks for any help you can give me. KatieSee More

I also believe that the photo may have been taken in the 1920's, or possibly earlier. My parents, as well as aunts and uncles were married in the late 1920's (1928 & 1929). The dresses and poses were similar, however the dresses were…

Linda, Thanks so much for your "Linda Style" for the web files. I finally found where they needed to go and then "published" to a web folder on my desktop. Your style is great! Especially like the male/female symbols. I wonder if…

Thank you to Patti who was able to find Bockius and his family in the 1860 census. Unfortunately, it appears that his step-daughter had moved out by that time. Still looking for the 1850 census.

An update; Patti e-mailed me that he lived at 135 Carondelet in the Kennedy's 1860 directory. I will also mention that he and his wife are both from Germany, and by 1860, he had 3 living children: Nick, Joseph (or John) and Margaret…

Hi Katie, I thought I had a good idea, but doesn't seem to be panning out. I found four names in the 1860 Kennedy's City directory in the exact same area, and thought it would be easy to find at least a couple of them on the census…

St. Louis Census by address

Thumbnail
I am trying to find my GG Grandfather, Nicholas Bockius in either the 1850 or 1860 census (or both!). In 1847, he lived at 265 Carondelet, and in 1851 he lived at 265 Carondelet. In 1861, he lived on Emmit between Carondelet and Jackson.I need the census as I am trying to find the name of his step-daughter who lived with him. His wife at that time was named Marie Anna.Is there a database that lists the census' by address? Any other ideas? Thanks!KatieSee More

Katie,

My wife's maiden name is Jeanne Mueth. Her family is from the Mascoutah area; however they moved up to Dakota IL in the mid 1960s. Do you know if this fits in your research?

Cheers,
Dave
