Suggestions needed on how to safely remove glued paper from back of photos

Thumbnail
Does anyone have suggestions about what to do with photographs that have been glued in a photo album? I have some old c. 1917 photos that have the black paper still glued to the back. I can see that the names of the people in the photos have been written on the photos, however, the black glued paper is covering the writing. I would like to remove the paper without harming the photos. Is this possible?See More
