My gt grandfather was Joseph Gettings born Ilkestone, Derbyshire in 1874.  In 1903 he left his wife and daughters and sailed to the US to stay with his aunt a Mrs Whitehouse in East Mckeesport.  His mother was Lydia Whitehouse married to Richard Gettings and they lived in the UK but I can't find out who the aunt was. Lydia had brothers and sisters but it is difficult to trace their lives as their names are so common.  I have lost track of Joseph after the 1930 US census and would really like to know more about him and the Whitehouse relatives that he stayed with.

I am a descendant of a Henry Whitehouse (4th gg), born 1804 in New Hampshire, USA. I believe his father was Jonathan Whitehouse, born about 1775. I don't know where Jonathan was born. The trail goes cold with him. Henry had a brother Joseph P., born 1809 in NH. There may be other siblings. Does anyone have Whitehouses who went to the US?

Hi i am decended from a James Whitehouse who is my great grandad, he married Jenifer Hughs and they lived in Tipton in Dudley. I am not sure what year he was born, it would have been between 1910 - 1920, maybe 1912. They had two daughters Maureen and Jean. James died in 1978. I am pretty sure that they lived around Park Lane in tipton from what i have been told. Becky

Hi Scott. Haven't got a James born 1789 in my tree yet. Do you know whereabouts in Staffordshire your James was born.

I made a Mistake it should be a descendant of James Whitehouse, not Joseph. Scott

Hello...I'm a Whitehouse...at least I married one. My husband was born in Blackheath but his family roots are in Tipton, in particular Park Lane which has a large population of Whitehouses. With a lot of help from Keith Percy we've got as far back as his ggg grandfather Joseph Whitehouse. Other Whitehouses in the tree are Enoch (gg grandfather) born 1797, Edwin (g grandfather) born 1830, Samuel (grandfather) born 1863 and his father Leslie born in Oldbury in1905.
