My husband's Great-grandmother, Amanda Ellen Barnes, was born between 1835-1840 and married William Warner.in 1856 or 57. First child, Ira C Warner, was born in WI in 1858. Daughters were Alice and Nellie. She died in WI in 1884. Could anyone find info about their marriage and her family? Would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Patricia, if you could either post your email or email me at toc5871@aol.com. I believe I found a marriage record.
My e-mail is: pitterpatt444@yahoo.com. Thanks loads. Patt
sent it. Let me know if you get it.
Thank you, I'm not sure if it's them but it does remind me to broaden my search from just the West Virginia areas. Both of their families were fairly well off so they may have traveled elsewhere to marry. I guess I always assumed that the areas of Virginia that became West Virginia would just have kept all their records and such because the name of the area changed not the location. Is this correct?
IF you read Family Tree Magazine, there is a listing in the front about previous articles, someone wrote in about the VA/WV records. See if you can get anywhere from that. Also try their website.

Plus, you are right about the traveling. I have family from NY that got married in TX, I could not understand that. I still do not have all the information on that one. Good luck with your search.
