To whom it may concern:
I seem to be stuck between Henry Sellwood, dob 1782, Aldsworth, Berkshire, England and his Grandson, Enos George Sellwood, dob 1819, Winchcomb, Gloucestershire, England. The problem, Henry Sellwood's son Charles Sellwood, dob 1802, Horncastle, Lincolnshire, England, seems to be lost! And, I cannot find a wife, but I believe she was born in 1803, England.
My data shows a possibility of Charles moving to New York, USA in 1845, with a wife of Ann, at that point I loose that track. I cannot find any Censuses in USA or England.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Don

Hello Bob,
I have researched some of your family but although I am very suspicious that they are linked to mine somewhere, I cannot find that link. I have your Sarah with 2 brothers, William and Thomas. I must admit to originally finding them on your website. Do you know the story/newspaper report of the murder of William Ewings Sellwood? He was a relation of your Sarah.

Hi

Just joined the Group. My gggrandmother was Sarah Sellwood, daughter of Thomas & Elizabeth Sellwood of Devizes. This Sellwood family were also connected with Ramsbury and Wootton Rivers, all in Wiltshire. If anyone is connected to them I would love to hear from them.

Hi Barbara,
Complaining about the rates seems to be a national occupation of all eras!

Hello Barbara and Vicki,
My great-grandmother, Martha Sellwood, was born in 1840 to John Sellwood. He was a shepherd all his life so not surprised that he was not a rate-payer.
Thanks for the info.

Hello Vicki and Michael,

My John Hitchens lived in Upavon he was the publican. In 1840 the Parish rate payers, got up a petition against having a Policeman, saying they were all law abiding people and having a Policeman would cost them extra rates, each person signed the Petition, there were no SELLWOOD'S living as rate payers..

Kind regards
Barbara Lewis Mallyon
