My Sauer line is through Minnesota from Saxony. Thanks to a cousin who lives near Dresden who I first met on line, I can trace family back to the 1600's My Great Grandfather, Traugott Sauer, had 8 children in US, then went back to Germany, married again and had 11 more children! Wow!
My g g grandfather was Charles Sauer b. abt. 1837 in ?Prussia. He married Gertrude Faylich. Their daughter Mary married Hermann Kastens in 1892 in Chicago, IL. They had 2 daughters and 1 son.
Our immigrant was Wendelin Sauer, son of Thomas Sauer and grandson of Urban Sauer of Hartheim, Baden (Germany). Wendelin was born in Hartheim and came to Cincinnati around 1848. (Got lots of information on him, ancestors, and descendants.) My mother was a daughter of Louis W. Sauer.
