Guest Speaker – Dr. Anne Lindsay, Noted Historian

Dr. Lindsay is a settler scholar, archivist and historian who is currently involved in several efforts to identify and honour the children buried in Residential School cemeteries.  She initially came to our attention through the Friends of St. John’s Cathedral Cemetery for the assistance she is giving there in identifying some of the early unmarked graves in one of Winnipeg’s oldest cemeteries.

People in our association will be especially interested in hearing more about a recent discovery of an early grave from 1813 of settler Hector Maclean who died the first year in the settlement.

Hi!
I'm the Genealogist for The Lord Selkirk Association of Rupert's Land, an Association dedicated to preserving the history of the original Selkirk Settlers at Red River and their descendants.
I hope to meet more here who have an interest in the origins of what is now Manitoba. Although my own family were Scottish and English in the 1812 and 1815 groups, I'm always interested in learning more about the other people who populated the area over time.
Ask questions, search for relatives, share your ancestors' stories - just start a Discussion! You might start by introducing yourself under your ancestor's name...
See you around!
