Highland Clearances, those cleared from Strath of Kildonan, Sutherland after 1800

I am a descendant of brave men & women who endured great hardships in an effort that their offspring have better opportunities.  My paternal heritage is largely from Kildonan Parish, Sutherland, Gunn, MacKay, Matheson, Bannerman, Sutherland, who came to North American in 1813 on the ship 'Prince of Wales'.  The passengers were put out prematurely in the Hudson Bay where they endured illness and a harsh winter before travel south to the Red River settlement in 1814.  Other Kildonan…See More

Kildonan Parish, Sutherland - Highland Clearances, from 1800

I am interested in contact with descendants of those cleared from Kildonan and neighboring parishes after the sheep riots of 1812 -1813.My paternal heritage is with the Gunns, Bannermans, Mathesons, MacKays, and Sutherlands who left their crofts in 1813 to board the 'Prince of Wales' as Selkirk Settlers destined for the Red River Settlement in that which is now in Canada.  Parishioners followed in 1815 and later years.See More

George Bannerman of 1813 Churchill Party

I am a descendant of George Bannerman (abt. 1789 to Feb. 1859) and Christina Sutherland (abt. 1789 to Dec 1875) both from Kildonan, Scotland and both buried in the Auld Kirk Cemetary, West Gwillumbury, Ontario.  They are my gr. gr. gr.grandparents through their son Hugh Bannerman (1820-1907).  I am looking for other descendants of the Bannermans of Kildonan, who left or were cleared 1790's to 1820's.  My grandparents moved west and lost contact with the Bannermans in the 1940's.See More
