Welcome!

Message from the Group Admin - In order to help us be able to organize and locate information, I think it would be helpful to try to limit the Comment Wall to introduce ourselves and our interests. When you have specific questions or research issues, please feel free to start a new Discussion thread if one does not already exist. Thanks, and happy hunting!

Thanks, Gary! And no worries! Critiques are how we learn. I agree that there is some confusion, but I'm looking at it all as an opportunity to "live and learn." The important thing to consider is that Comment Wall messages do not have the same search and tagging attributes as the Forums do, so Wall messages will eventually be almost unlocatable. They do appear in the Groups search page, but with >2600 groups I am already finding that difficult to use productively.

Thanks, September, but I have already made a new thread for it on the forum. By the way, just a minor criticism, but, if there were only the forums, in the first place, I don't think we'd be having all this confusion about where to post to what. If there were simply one place for it all, then we wouldn't have this problem. Just a thought.

Gary, I created a discussion group for the Sabin(e)s. I will post what info I have on your ancestors there.

That's great Coralynn! Thanks for sharing it here.
Could I ask you to post the link in the Links Discussion so we don't lose track of it in the Comment Wall, and members can find it more easily when they need it?
Thanks very much!

I made a page of vital records from everything I could find on Nantucket back in 2006, shortly after we returned from a vacation there.

Thanks, September. I've been wondering if that's what I should be doing, as people may not look at these comments, but they will check the forums.

Hi Everyone!

As the Group Admin, I would like to ask a huge favor of everyone . . . when you have information to share about a particular family line that you are researching, could you please do so in a Discussion Forum for that Surname, or start a discussion (using the Surname as the title) if one does not yet exist?

If we continue to use the Comment Wall for these discussions, pretty soon we will be paging through hundreds of unrelated comments in order to locate the one(s) we are interested in. Another reason to do this is in consideration of those who have not yet joined us. They would have to read through every Comment to see if there is even one that pertains to them. I realize I may have not done this myself. My only excuse is that I am new to being a Group Admin but am more than willing to learn from my mistakes. If we can limit the Comment Wall to introductions of ourselves as we join, then that area will be more manageable.

Thanks very much for your understanding and help in making this something we can all use easily and productively!

Hi, Linda. Thanks. Maybe you can help me connect my Sabins, then. These are the ones I have:

1 Dexter Sabin (1800-1876) & Hannah LIPSCOMB
2 Alfred P. Sabin (1827-1897) & Sarah W. TUCKER
3 Albert R. Sabin (1852-1927) & Maria H. CARTWRIGHT
3 Jenny C. Sabin (1861-1933) & Martin Lester OLMSTED
3 Hattie Sabin (1865-1867)
3 Jane Sabin (1862)
3 Etta Sabin (1867)
3 Herbert P. Sabin (1855)
3 Eugene A. Sabin (1857-1880)
2 Mary Sabin (abt 1833) & Wiley STEWART
2 Chloe Sabin (1836-1918) & John JENNER
2 Lucinda Sabin (1839-1894)
2 Daniel H. Sabin (1843-1845)
2 Joel P. Sabin (1830-1914) & Miranda A. NICKERSON
3Jeanette Sabin (abt 1852) & William WARD

That line emanates from my LIPSCOMB line, which goes back to Thomas Lipscomb (1725-1802) & Sarah PARKHURST, then to Sarah Parkhurst's parents John Parkhurst & Abigail Sabin. I have nothing on Abigail's parents, but I imagine she comes from the same line as her Sabin descendants listed above. Meanwhile, the Parkhurts go back one more generation, to John Parkhurst and Abigail MORSE and the Morse line goes back to Stratford, England in 1434.

Meanwhile, there is the aforementioned Experience Sabin (1648-1728) and her husband Samuel BULLEN. Samuel Bullen's mother was Mary MORSE, of the same line that goes back to Stratford, England in 1434. So, the Bullens and Morses are pretty intertwined with the Sabins.

That's all my Sabins, in a nutshell.

Hi Gary. Both those women are in my Sabin line. My main line is from Lydia Sabin who married the Rev. Elisha House. Her parents were Ziba and Lydia Welch Sabin, from Norwich CT. All the children were born in MA though.
