Hello everyone. I am doing research on my Portuguese side of the family in New Bedford and Fairhaven. My Dad Rudolph Vaz was born in 1925 in New Bedford and later raised in Fairhaven. Unlike a lot of Portuguese my Grandfather Antone Vaz came from mainland Portugal and not the Azores. But he did marry someone (1921) from the Azores and the surnames from that line are Rapozo, de Mello, Affonso and de Jesus. Surnames from the mainland are Vaz and Ferreira.
My French side of the family comes from Lowell, Holyoke and Chicopee. Their surnames are Belanger, Blanchette and Dery.
Thank you all for your time.

Re: Henry A. Wipfler
A quick check of the 1880 census for MA turned up two families that may be of interest to you. First, in MA-Middlesex-Somerville-District 485-Page 17 of 49 (Skehan Street) is the family of "Eloise Whifler" (male, 35 yrs, shoe-maker, b. Baden) and his wife, Annie (female, 37 yrs., b. Baden), with 4 daughters, Hannah (6 yrs), Annie (4 yrs), Eliza (2 yrs), and Catherine (4 mos). All the children were born in MA.

Secondly, in MA-Suffolk-Boston-District 678-Page 11 of 47 (West Fourth St., South Boston) is the family of Jacob Wipfler (male, 50 yrs. jeweler, b. Baden), and 1 daughter, Lizzie (27 yrs), and 3 sons, Charles (23 yrs, cigar maker), Fred (17 yrs, clerk in store), and Joseph (12 yrs, at school). All four children report being born in MA and both parents born in Baden (Germany?). Hope this helps.

Hello everyone. Am researching what has happened to the line of Eric G. and Clara L. (b. 1895) Pearson of Worcester, Massachusetts. Eric (b. 1896) emigrated from Sweden in early 1900's, settling in Worcester. They had two children, Ruth L. (b.~1921 or 1922) and Harold E. (b.~1925 or 1926). Trail is cold after this.

I'm hoping someone could help shed some light on this person. Henry A Wipfler. I have city directories with him living in Somerville.Mass at least from 1889 to 1892 and in the 1892 Boston city directory working as a clerk and living in Somerville.
When he was living in Somerville he lived at 563 Somerville Ave. with a Alois Wipfler. I have not been able to prove this is his father, uncle etc. When he was working in Boston the address he worked at was 137 Federal St.. The census for Boston say he is a boarder still at the same address in Somerville.
Henry shows up in Allegheny County Pa, Sometime after 1893. He must have been married (which I know isn't always the case) because his first child was born 1893 and according to the 1900 census for Allegheny County show his wife as a widow and birth years of their children.I have a cemetery card showing his plot number and date he was buried,1898. Any census I've seen with his birthplace listed says he was born in Mass.

I am researching Jennings, Noone, McGovern, Rowe and Cain families from Middlesex County between 1850 and mid 1900s.

No problem, Margi. Everything I've seen gives it as a date of birth, so I just wondered what his source was for that date being a baptism, rather than the date of birth.
Comment by Margi Underwood on August 15, 2009 at 2:35pm
Hi Gary, Sorry to be so late getting back to you. You are correct, Newton may have used a baptismal date for a birth date. I'll see if I can narrow it down.

I don't mind sharing at all.

Welcome, Anna. We don't have a Discussion Forum for the Annable family yet, so if you would like to start one and post the information you do have as a message there, it would be great. Thanks very much!

I had family who arrived in 1623 on the Ann, the name was Annable, I now a little but would like more info. There daughter Hannah married Thomas Bowerman, and I have more info on there descendants, especally those who came to Ontario, Canada.
