I sometimes write this down as the (C/K)r(U/OO)van(D/T) surname. The different spelling variations all seem to be related, and extend back to the Lithuania villages of Cekiske and Kruvandai. Today, the families can be found in the US, Canada, Israel and possibly elsewhere.
