Hi Kentucky Researchers,

Is anyone searching in Graves County?

I am researching the Willis Johnson family in Graves County. Willis was born about 1790 in North Carolina and is in Graves County by 1840. He dies between 1850 and 1860 in Graves County. His first wife is unknown to me and died about 1840. His second wife was Hester __________, born 28 June 1809 in Tennessee. Willis and Hester disappear, but my ancestor, Woodson Johnson and his brother, Abraham Johnson, show up in 1860 in Hardeman county, Tennessee living with a Henry Johnson. Woodson moves around a bit and eventually goes back to Graves County where he marries a Mary Ann Finley- never mind he doesn't have a divorce from his first wife, Rebecca Jane COX. He dies in Graves County in 1921.

I was hoping to find some information on the WorldVitalRecords site with the Simmons Historical Collection, but I've been fairly disappointed. I keep hoping ancestry or genealogybank will add some newspapers covering the Graves County area. I know they exist b/c they are somewhat transcribed in this Simmons Historical Collection.

Thanks GenealogyWise for a place to network, discuss, and post.
