Pictured above is the entrance to Glasnevin cemetery in Dublin which probably has the largest number of Kennedy graves in the British/Irish Isles. I have photographed about 60 of them but its tricky to get to all the stones as in Ireland gravestones tend to be closely packed together. The biggest in Scotland is Ayr cemetery with about 70 photographed. If anyone is looking for a Kennedy burial in either of these places drop me a private message and I can do a lookup; some of the burials are 20th century so its not appropriate to post the full details. I have similar Kennedy gravestone photographs taken in Limerick, Nenagh, Donegal, Derry/Londonderry and Belfast as well as all over Scotland.

Hi Ian,
Included my post here for anyone following the thread...
I have attached Alex Kennedys death cert as requested....
My genelogical reasoning is a follows,
1. Found 1841 census record of Alex and Grace living in Ballechin, note they had a duaghter called "vase". Check census image to see it is Vere or Vear.Possible Alex's mother are grandmother firstname?
2. Found 1851,1861 census records with "matching" children stil in Logeriat, now farmer of 12 acres at Haugh
3. Found 1871 census record with Alex living in Auchtergaven with limited "matching" children, now farmer of 100 acres at Klschudrie. Looks like he bought at bigger farm at Auchtergaven
4. Found 1881 census record, Alex is now at Prieston Road, Auchtergaven as a retired farmer with Christina still living with him.
5. Found death cert for Alex 4 June 1886 at Auchtergaven, grand daughter as per 1881 census is witness, shows Grace Robertson as wife etc...

Have a look at the attachments,
What do you think???

Regards

Anthony

Anthony, that's a different parentage from what I have, if you have a copy of the image of Alex's death cert and could email it me at kennedy@one-name.org I would be most grateful (don't post it here if its crown copyright). Then I can comment further. I have over one hundred Alex K death certs but not that one!

cheers, Iain K

Iain, I have just confirmed Alex's father via his death cert e.g his father was Alex and his mother Vear Kennedy, which is also her maiden name!
Has anyone traced Alex/Vear back further than this???

Anthony

Thanks Iain for your reply. Its good to know that I have some relatives to look up over here...
Grace Kennedy married Charles Fraser but she died early of tuberculosis. I am from this Fraser/Kennedy line via my mother I am trying to find Alex's ancestory via ancestory.com/scotlands people but I think have gone as far as I can there. Is there any documentation that shows Alex's ancestory as I would like to find his father so I can complete my tree.( which is public and is called "Junes family tree")
Thanks again for the reply,
regards Anthony...

The Alex Kennedy/Grace Robertson tree is well studied by myself and others, another branch I know of that went to Australia descend from Alex's brother John who moved to Tannadice. There are still Kennedys bearing the family name in Australia today. Some of the older generation are buried in Logierait churchyard - which is full of Kennedys being one of their strongest parishes in the whole of Scotland.

I am researching Alex Kennedy (1800 Ballechin, Logierait) and his wife Grace Robertson (1803 Logierait, Perthshire). Their daughter Grace is my GGG grandmother. Does any one have this family as your ancestor????
