Information About Posting

To help organize things I've made discussion threads for all the regions of Italy. If you know where the people you are researching lived, please post your queries, information, etc. in the appropriate thread. If you don't know where in Italy the people you are researching lived or if they lived in multiple areas, go ahead and post to the Comment Wall below. Also, if you feel your post is urgent or you want it to be viewed by the whole group, post to the Comment Wall.

Please don't spam the Comment Wall or Discussion Forum. If you have multiple posts you would like to share, try and combine them. Also, if you would like to post something in Italian, please add an English translation as not all of us know Italian. Thanks!

Thank you Michael Boscarato, but I don't understand what it is you've shared with me for the Paccioretty. I don't speak or read Italian.
The Paccioretty are from the Ferno, Milan area. The Colombo from Lonate Pazzolo area.

My greatgrandfather came from Italy. But I don't know from where or when. His name is Lorenzo Bryan. I was told that his last name was changed when he got to America.

ellisisland.org. There are also sites for Italians who went to Argentina. Evetually I'll have to contact Argentinean authorities- I have 3 relatives who went there from Italy, one settling in the US though.

Is there a way to search in Italy (on the computer, except Ancestry) for ancestors from there? I have not found a good site to do so.

Sincerely,
Hope

I have found a Piaggi family that were Italian living in Switzerland in the 1820-1830, but cannot connect to them. According to Ancestry the largest number of people names Piaggi lived in CA, but I can't find them.

Grandparents-Dominick and Elvira (D'Angelo) Tamburro from the Abruzzo region came over in 1916 and settled in the Verona/Oakmont area of Pennsylvania. My dad Etorre (Hector) Anthony Tamburro was born in Roccacinquemiglia. Looking for more info before they came over.

My great grandfather's name was Alfredo Monticelli. Unfortunately I have very little information. I don't even know if he was born in Italy or England. All I know is he was in England 55-60 years ago and was either related to or in some way connected to the Board family (originally from Ireland). Any information on him or any relatives would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone related? Looking for Paccioretty in San Francisco area, or Colombo or Airoldi. Also wonder how do you find records from Italy. Ancestry isn't any help.
