Information About Posting

To help organize things I've made discussion threads for all the regions of Italy. If you know where the people you are researching lived, please post your queries, information, etc. in the appropriate thread. If you don't know where in Italy the people you are researching lived or if they lived in multiple areas, go ahead and post to the Comment Wall below. Also, if you feel your post is urgent or you want it to be viewed by the whole group, post to the Comment Wall.

Please don't spam the Comment Wall or Discussion Forum. If you have multiple posts you would like to share, try and combine them. Also, if you would like to post something in Italian, please add an English translation as not all of us know Italian. Thanks!

I'm searching the Gaglione(Gallione in U.S.)families of Avella,(Avellino, Napoli).
They settled in New Jersey and New York, immigrating abt 1890 and later.

I am researching the Sanguenette/Sanguenetti, Castagnino, and Canepa families.
They came to the United States around 1853 landing in New Orleans. Some of the family moved up river to Missouri and then across the country to Colorado. I have pictures of family dating from the turn of the century but I don't know who they are.

AHA!
Thanks Michael B. I found a person of the same name of my mom in law's father living in the same town he was born in, so there is probably a relation. I am considering writing him and seeing if I can make a connection.

Thank you so much for the help.

Hi Michael,
To answer your questions,I don't know when he arrived here. He lived in Pennsylvania. He worked at the Pennsylvania railroad as a elevator operator. His first wife's name was Mary Pfeiffer, which I have her obit. His second wife's name was Bertha Dunn. I don't have much about her. They were married here in Pa. I also do not why his name was changed.

My grand mother was a Garbo and her father was Salvadore Garbo from Italy who settled in New Orleans in approximately 1870. Also father of Lillian Garbo (sister to Josephine Garbo) was a Cosenza. I believe they came from Palermo, Italy and settled in New Orleans
