Lindquist, Desaix, Johanson....  I have several soldiers name... and I am confuse how to record the last names with the soldier name in Rootsmagic...  Anyone can give me ideas... or suggestions...

There are of course different ways to cite a soldier's name in a family program. I personally prefer always including a patronym because it visually strengthens the link between father and son. If your ancestor's name for instance was Andrew Lindquist and he was the son of Johan, I would write the first name as Andrew Johanson and the surname as Lindquist. This works well I think because when I search for all the Lindquist's in the index he's more easily found than if he's entered under Johanson Lindquist. He's also cited among other Lindquists in the index.
