I am looking for some information regarding my great grandfather.  We are having trouble finding him anywhere and only have what he told my Grandfather about his past.  His name is Svend Henry Johnsen.  he was born in 1899, either in New York when his parents were on vacation or in his hometown, which we were told is 30 miles south of Copenhagen.  He says he joined the Merchant Marines at age 15 and disembarked somewhere in America.  He fought in World War 1, was wounded in France, recovered in Panama and was discharged in New Orleans, where he lived the rest of his life.  He claims to have 2 siblings (Seir and Ella) but we are not sure of the spelling or if they were even siblings.  I have checked the Danish census pages and have not found anything.  If anyone could point me in another direction, it would be helpful.  Thanks

I offer research in the Danish national archives and perform thorough quality control of all research files. I have a large number of documented assignments behind me - for people - in Denmark as well as abroad.

I can arrange Genealogy tours, do not hesitate to ask!

I can translate all kinds of records: Land records, censuses, church parish records, wills, probate, immigration, and other types of records from German, Swedish, Norwegian and Danish to English.

I have been searching for my Danish roots for many years and had a small break thorough that may help all.  The Danish Data base has many records and is translated into English for easier use.  Do a google search and it is easy to find.  Surnames I have interestee in are Pedersdatter, Iversen and Hansen.
