Where are Your Carmen Ancestors from?
I am currently researching the Carmen line that originates in England.
My great grandfather, Joseph Carmen or Carman, was born in Bothel,
Northumberland, England around 1845 and died 23 Aug 1924. He was
married to Mary Trotter in 1874. Mary Trotter was born 1847 in Morpeth,
Northumberland, England. They came to Utah in the late 1800 to early
1900's. Mary Trotter Carmen is pictured in the center of the group photo along with her children and grandchildren.

My immigrant ancestor, John Carman (sometimes recorded as "Kirman") is said to have been born in or near Bishopstoke, Hampshire, England, about 1606. He came to the Massachusetts Bay colony in 1631 on the ship "Lion's Whelp". He was one of the 2 founders (with his brother-in-law, Robert Fordham) of the settlement of Hempstead on Long Island in 1643. I descend from his great-great grandson Adam Carman and his wife Philadelphia Titus, who were Quakers. Their branch left New York about 1790 for New Brunswick, and returned to Greene County, NY, a few years later.
Adam and Philadelphia's son, Jacob, moved to Pennsylvania, and later to Sangamon County, Illinois. Their son Waters Carman eventually emigrated to Clackamas County, Oregon. His sister Rachel is my great-great grandmother. -
