Barnetts in S. Il or in Caldwell Co., KY

Hi. I am trying to connect with relatives of Joseph Barnett born about 1800 not sure where, maybe Ky or Tn. Not sure who his parents were. Married 1820 to not sure who (this is going good huh?) but second wife was Elizabeth Mick Owens married once with many children before, of Tennnessee. They lived in southern Il - Gallatin County and had three more children. My relative is Edward. F. Barnett who was born about 1834 and killed at the Battle of Ft. Donelson in Tn during the Civil War. His only child was Issac Edmond (known as Ed) Barnett born about 1859. He was a school teacher and died before 1900. Some people have Joseph as being a son of David Barnett (who he lived next door to in the 1820 IL census along with some known sons of David) but close family members say that Joseph was not a son. I am wondering if Joseph was maybe not a nephew. But, Caldwell County, Ky is a connection. David Barnett testified in a 1824 Caldwell Co., Ky trial that he knew a person there and testified to the property of a slave related to a family that he knew in Rockingham Co., NC. David was also known as David "Luke" Barnett and there is a Luke Barnett in the 1790 Rockingham, NC census. So, HELP if anyone knows anything. Especially those with a CALDWELL CO., KY connection.
