Missing Great-Grandfather
I am looking for an Alfred Raymond. He was born between 1840-1860 in Arkansas. He was african american. I have located a Slave Owner with the same name, but cannot pin him down. He was possibly married to Mary Clayton in either Arkansas or Mississippi.
They did not stay together very long and she moved between Mississippi and Memphis and stayed with various relatives. Their son was James C. Raymond Sr., born in Mississippi 1917. Any information would help. Thank you.

I was in the process of moving and did not get copies before I left PGH. I have ordered them and will get back to you. I do know that James did not speak of his father and I do not think that Mary ever married him. All we have is a picture and the knowledge that they came from Arkansas. Thank you for your response and I will be in touch.
