African Ancestored Genealogy
I like the inclusiveness of the term; it includes North America, South America; in fact the entire globe!
Another way of expressing this is the African Diaspora
From Wikipedia:
African diaspora; One of the largest diasporas of pre-modern times was the African Diaspora, which began at the beginning of the 16th century. During the Atlantic Slave Trade, twenty million people from West, West-Central and South-east Africa were transported to the Western Hemisphere as slaves.
This population and their descendants were major influences on the culture of English, French, Portuguese and Spanish New World colonies. The Arab slave trade also transported Africans from the continent, although the effect of the Diaspora to the east is more subtle.

A photo of Bennie J. McRae, Jr. is included with my response on AfriGeneas to the news of Bennie's collection going to Hamption University. In this instance Bennie is the featured speaker at a ceremony at the Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio.
Bennie was repsonsible for a plaque being dedicated at this cemetery honoring the USCT's buried there. His presentation featured the role of Joshua Dunbar, father of Poet Paul Laurence Dunbar, played as a USCT veteran.
Joshua Dunbar, a former slave who escaped to Canada returned to the United States and volunteered to serve with the 55th Mass. After being injured and mustered out of the military Joshua Dunbar somehow re-enlisted and served with the 5th USCT. He is buried at the Dayton National Cemetery.
Congratulations to Bennie .

Hampton University is an excellent Repository for these records. When I was in Virginia I did quite a bit of research on the campus. I am going to do a special on the history of Hampton University the first week of December and will talk about the United States Colored Troops Records. Please pass the word.
