I guess I would fall into this group! My ancestors were Fears/Phears. As far back as I can trace - early 1800's, but have found revolutionary war records, some land records, etc. Am told by fellow Fears/Phears genealogical researcher that our earliest ancestor came to the US in the early 1600's. We just don't know from where.......

Hi,

The "FEAR Single Name Society" researches all families named FEAR and its variants. We see PHEAR as a varuant if FEAR, and have seen a number of cases where FEARS and FEAR interchange, so both of these are included. I have never come across an example of PHEARS, but I am sure that would be considered withing the remit of the Group. We try not to be exclusive or rule bound, so I am sure both names your suggest would be included happily if anyone wants to include them
