Genealogy Wise

The Genealogy & Family History Social Network

How about this to help out the programmers. There are many more options using the Ning platform, and the WVR programmers will never know which we prefer unless we ask.

Thank you. The informaiton made sense to me.
Hi Georgie!
One way I have found to discover if there is anybody searching the same surname is to hover on MEMBERS on the top horizontal bar. A menu opens below - 3 options, the third one down being ADVANCED MEMBER SEARCH. This is just like the profile form we filled in when we joined................if you go down to "Surnames I am searching" [or something very similar] and type in just one of the names you are searching and then scroll down and press SEARCH it will bring up all those people who have entered that name.
Try it with Alabaster (my one name study) you will find it will bring up 9 people, including me!

Do hope that you get to read this .........................and that it helps!

I Wish it would stop sending me emails. This is so annoying I will probably leave
Look though your settings. you can partially control what e-mail is sent to you
There's a link at the bottom of this page. "Stop Following - Don't email me when people reply"
We need a technical support section. It should include FAQs, How-to, support email to get answers.

I'm having a problem so am posting it here.

Right now I'm having trouble becauce GW shuts down my IE browser. This never happened until I started using GW. I think there may be a bug somewhere in the system. Is anyone else experiencing this?
I too wish the FAQ and Help pages were up and running. In the mean time, SO WISH FL had stationed someone in the chat room 24/7 to help with issues just like yours.
I know that a few people obtained assistance by posting to a discussion topic, "July -Genealogywise Bugs or Problems-Please leave the problem you are having here," on Debbie Jackson's group, "Genealogywise Problems or Suggestions."
Anyone can read the thread; if you join the group, you can post your specific problem.
Hope this helps.--GJ
"... in the mean time [until we have vetted FAQs and Help], SO WISH FL had stationed somone in the chat room 24/7...."
Hint, Hint.... --GJ
What is SO WISH FL? and how do I get there?
Hi Trudy:

My "Hint Hint" was intended for FamilyLink (FL), the good folks behind GenealogyWise.
I was referring back to the my just earlier comment in which I wrote, "SO WISH [FamilyLInk] had stationed someone in the chat room 24/7 to help with issues just like yours."
The chat room is open 24/7. From what I can tell (ie., I think), all the members who are on line show as everyone online are reported on a right hand column ... but most of those online are not following the chat.
At least earlier in this week, it wasn't being monitored by FamilyLink.
Hope this helps explain my "hint hint."
Trudy, did you send a note to FamilyLink using the link at the bottom of each page?
In the alternative, did you try Debbie Jackson's Problems and Suggestions group?
I did being a group ealier today as a venue, somewhat a member to meber help group:

http://www.genealogywise.com/group/genealogywisememberhelp

You are welcome to post at that group also. If you post your issue there, and its not answered, I'll try to reach out to the Group Admins for insight.--GJ
I think from what GeneJ typed that "SO WISH FL" means that GeneJ wishes FL (FamilyLink, the owner of Genealogy Wise) would have someone in the chat room 24/7. That would be an expensive proposition, wouldn't it?

The chat room here at Genealogy Wise can be entered two different ways that Ol' Myrt here knows of:

1. By clicking the "GENEALOGY WISE CHAT" button in the lower right portion of the Genealogy Wise screen.

or

2. Clicking "CHAT" on the top right green navigation bar.

I don't work for FamilyLink nor GenealogyWise. It just seemed that no additional time should go past without your having received and answer Trudy.
Hi DearMyrtle:
Thank you again for the introduction to Second Life.
About the chat room, my thought/hint was, more specifically, until we have FAQ and Help pages, FamilyLink might monitor the chat room 24/7 (8/7, 4/7...etc).
