Looking for Matheson lady, granddaughter of Angus Matheson from RRS

My grandmother was Katherine Matheson Morrison from Saskatchewan. Her mother was a Matheson and died shortly after my grandmother was born. (Within 3 months, I believe). I know very little about her mother except that she was a cousin of John Grace Matheson who stayed briefly with her and her husband, James Sylvester Brown, in Onion Lake, Saskatchewan while building his own place. (For those who have read Ruth Buck's "The Doctor Rode Sidesaddle" there is a brief of his stay with Vester and Katie). I am at a dead end trying to figure out whose child Katherine's mother was. I would like to find a record of all of Angus Morrison's (1785- 1874) children and their families to try to determine which branch is my great-grandmothers. I suspect that her name was also Catherine (though no proof) and know that she would have died between Feb and May of 1883 probably in Carmen, NWT or Manitoba. If anyone has any information that could help this search, I would greatly appreciate it.

Since this posting, I have learned that my grandmother's mother was Catherine Matheson from the Red River Settlement. She married my great-grandfather, Angus Morrison, also from the Red River area according to the Kildonan Presbyterian Church Register of Baptisms # 164. The marriage took place on March 10, 1881, in Headingly, MB. Unfortunately, I still do not have any more information regarding Catherine's parents so am still looking for any and all help I can get.

I too am looking for information regarding a female Matheson associated with Red River Settlement:  Janet Matheson whose birth date is 'guestimated' to be 1787 and recorded year of passing is 1866.  She traveled with her new husband Angus Gunn (1788 - 1879) and members of his family on the 'Prince of Wales' as Selkirk settlers, leaving Stornway 1813 and arriving at RRS in 1814.  I believe Selkirk Settlers with the Matheson name arrived in 1815 via Church Hill / Hudson Bay.  Her and Angus's first child, Catherine was born 1814 RRS and she married a McIntyre...

When you identify the ancestors for your Catherine, it likely will relatives of my my gr.gr.gr. grandmother.

Actually, I believe I have identified Catherine's mother since that posting. The mystery lady is Catherine J. Morrison, born 24 Oct 1862 to John Pritchard Matheson and Anne Fraser. She married Angus Morrison and died two years later after giving birth to Catherine Matheson Morrison.

It has taken me about 30 years to track her down so don't despair about tracking Janet! Good luck!!
