Hi Bruce,  Richie here.  I am helping a friend who is investigating her family history. Her Grandfather William Henry Jolley was a quite famous railway chef here in Canada.  He had been here most of his long life but was born in New Zealand.  I was trying to get a hold of you because, in one of your earlier genforum posts, I noticed that you missed a generation of Jolleys.  It was from quite a while ago and you may already know this by now.  I have helped her track the Jolleys and Nuttings throught he NZ and UK records at this point.   I look forward to comparing notes with you if you wish.  Anyway this was your post from 1998:  "Nicholas Jolly of Chesterton, Cambridge married Elizabeth Norris around 1770. His son was John Jolly who married Elizabeth Bird. His son was William Jolly who married Elizabeth Logan.  His son was Thomas Jolly who married Mary Ann Snelling, The last couple came to New Zealand in 1864, Anyone come across any connections?"  This is what I found going back from the Canadian chef's obit.  Thomas Jolly who married Mary Ann Snelling had a son Thomas who married Jane(t)Nutt(e)ing in NZ in 1875. Their son was Henry Jolley (b. 12 July 1878 in Upper Hutt, Wellington NZ.   Nicholas Jolly married Elizabeth Norris 24 Dec 1750.  Nicholas is mentioned as the son of Nicholas Jolly and Sarah but I have not found out who that is. I have sketched out a chart for her with info from the Chesterton records.

I do not know when Wm Henry (as he called himself here, although his birth certificate is only Henry) emigrated to Canada but he lived in Montreal, province of Quebec and left many decendants.  You are doubtless a relative of my friend!  Hope I have not gone on too long. Best,  Richie
