Genealogy Wise

The Genealogy & Family History Social Network

I hope to see GenealogyWise create a foundation for exponential growth in both quality and quantity. Narratives are more important than raw name lists to me. Annotated bibliographies grab my attention when raw lists do not. At its onset I see value in GenyWise for those who do not wish to share their missing links with the monoliths such as FamilySearch or Ancestry. Obscure surnames and localities can be discovered in a website of any size, but unusual search strategies are not easily found in the honored textbooks and online sites.

Perhaps we can discuss key questions and give input to FamilyLink.
□ What should GenyWise look like when there are 3 or 30 million users?
□ What does its long-range plan say about the functions most needed and wanted by genealogists new and old?
□ What does its market survey say about those already in the world of genealogical technology, and about those who it may yet attract?
□ Will there be a systematic approach and a common-sense social order for this network?
□ Will GenyWise use historical population statistics (such as those by the U.S. Census Bureau) along with polls of users and automated statistics?
