I'm researching the Heefner line, which apparently is a misspelling of "Haffer". Here is what I have so far, from my earliest known direct male ancestor to the latest I wish to share:

John HAFFER - (Abt.1755-1828)
Conrad HEEFNER - (1798-1870)
James HEEFNER - (1834-1899)
John F. HEEFNER - (1875-????)
John Emmert HEEFNER - (1896-1965)

All were born if Franklin county, PA, as far as I know, and most are from Quincy Township.

I'm looking to confirm and expand my research, I can not get past John HAFFER and I'm still not sure if that is the correct spelling or if his parents may have had a different surname. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

John

No I am not from that area I live in York. If you don't mind looking to see if you have her or John Shaffer that would be great. Thanks
I guess it would help if I give u her name. Eliza or Elizabeth Hefner Shaffer I have that she was born 30 Dec 1828 PA, d: 20 Aug 1883 PA. John Shaffer I had a b-day of 1829 PA that is all the information that I have for them.
Well here I am back here again and good to see that there someone else with the" Heefner " connection.
Shonda You say that you cannot find the cemetery in question well I may be able to put some light on that for via the find a grave site : http://www.findagrave.com or this will take you straight to search page :
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi Just type in the surname and you will have over 120 "Heefner's" to choose from I even put john shaffer in and it came up with over 500.

And for John also this may have some answers, you are looking for.
When doing the search just put the names in that way it will do a blanket search for you, there by not missing anyone out.
I also found these Heefner's from 1860

Peter Male 35 Hesse Darm
Elizabeth Female 33 Hesse Darm
Catharine Female 6 Pennsylvania
Adam Male 3 Pennsylvania
John Male 1 Pennsylvania

and a pdf page to look at too

hope this little bit helps

Hello, I am new to this sight. My great- granfather was John Andrew Heefner. He lived in Mont Alto PA and died there and is buried in the Mont Alto Cemetery. His wife was Charlotte Gift Heefner from the Grindstone Hill area. Their children were 4 sons, Harry, Grover, Charles, my grandfather and Clarence. An infant daughter is buried in the cemetery near the Snow Hill Nunnery in Quincy,PA. I am trying to find out who John's parents were. I believe his father was Levi but not Levi Darr Heefner.
I am on the Board of the Mont Alto Cemetery and have the records. Mont Alto has a Historical Society and I am also a member of that organization. Carolyn
