My great-grandfather Zeb Dills has been a brick wall for me ever since I began researching my family. He was born in Georgia (probably Towns County) around 1883. He was the son of John Dills and Margaret Garrett. He had three known brothers, Jasper Newton Dills, Edward Dills, and James Lucius Dills. He and my great-grandmother married in Macon County, NC in Feb. 1909. They quickly moved to Towns Co., Ga. Only 11 days after my grandfather was born (Nov 1909), Zeb left my great-grandmother and no one heard from him since. I've seen info that would suggest that he went into Tennessee and possibly Kentucky but, I have no proof of this. I'm hoping that someone will see this and be able to help me. Thanks, Tina Wyatt

I have also seen this one. I'll attach image of it.

I found a marriage record between a Zeb Dills (age 25) and a Zerelda Williams (age 22) in Anderson Co., TN on 25 Nov 1910.

Also interesting in the fact that Jasper Newton Dills (Zeb's brother) was living in Anderson Co., TN at that time. I'll attach his census records for 1910.

Another thing I found. On 19 Sept 1904 in Polk Co., TN a Zeb Dills married an Addy Bell.

The reason I think this is my Zeb is because his brother Jasper N married a Josie Bell. From what I can tell, Josie was from Polk Co., Tn. Jasper and her lived there in 1920. She had a sister named Addie/Addy. Coincidence? Maybe. But, I doubt it.

In the 1880 census Brasstown, Towns Co., Ga (I will attach)

Margaret Dills b 1857 ga,ga,ga widow
Newton b 1876 (this is Jasper) ga,ga,ga
Leucius (spelling) b 1876 ga,ga,ga
Edward b 1879 ga,ga,ga
( I don't know where John Dills was but, this census record says he was dead. Yet, Zeb was supposedly born after 1880???)
This is the same Margaret who later married Ervin Dills. Lucius, as you noted in the other post, is living right next to Ervin in 1900. That is how I first made the connection. A researcher doing research on Lucius confirmed that Jasper Newton was Margaret and John Dills son. Unfortunately he did not know of Zeb Dills.

For some reason I did not save an image, on my computer, of their marriage record but, I do have a copy.

They married in Macon Co., NC Franklin on 12 Aug 1896.:

S E Dills of Macon Co., NC age 55, son of Henry Dills and Susie Dills (both dead) married
Margaret Dills of Macon County age 40, dau of John Garrett and Polly Garrett. Father dead and mother living in Texas.
Also notice that in the 1880 census the Margaret Dills is living next to two Garrett's. One is James the other is Newton. I know Newton was her brother don't recall if James was. I haven't researched that line yet.

Someone told me that Polly remarried but I can't find a record of that. I'll have to check my files to see who told me that and who she married. Will post if I find.
Polly, meaning Margaret's mom. Checked my notes. Supposedly, Polly married a man by the last name of Patton and moved to Crowell, Tx. I have not checked or even tried to verify this yet. The info this person gave me says Mary Elvira or Elizabeth Osborn (Polly) was born 30 Jan 1830 in Henderson Co., NC. Again, I have not verified the birth date or the marriage.
I have also seen these census records.

The woman, I am told by a descendant of her, is Mary Bunch. I have not been able to make a definite connection with this family and my Zeb. I can not find a marriage record them either. The person who descends from Mary and this Zeb did not know who her Zeb's relatives were and was looking for his family as I was for my Zeb.

Zeb and Minnie Dills also had a daughter named Ella Marie Dills. She married Harold Gay Radabaugh in West Virginia on 3 Aug 1945. It lists her parents as Zeb Dills and Minnie Bunch.

(Given all the stuff I have dug up on Zeb Dills and Minnie Bunch I sure hope it turns out to be my Zeb Dills LOL )

I will attach an image of the marriage record for Marie and Harold. Can see the record at this link:

Thank you! I will check the info out. Great find!
