Who Were My Paternal Great Grandparents?

Continuing up the family tree...May I introduce my Great Grandparents...

The parents of Jean Lassalle were Pierre Lassalle and Elizabeth Segalas. Pierre and Elizabeth were from Ogeu les bains, France. They lived their entire lives in Ogeu les bains.

The parents of Anna Madeleine Mazeres were Charles Mazeres dit Salanave and Brigitte Breilh. Charles was from Ogeu les bains, while Brigitte was from Castet, France. Charles came to San Francisco in the early 1890s. He was single and trying to make a name for himself. Brigitte came over in the mid 1890s.

They met up in San Francisco and married in 1897. The couple had 3 children, though only my Grandmother survived.

They made their living running French laundries first in San Francisco, then Modesto, and then finally in Oakland. When Charles died in 1926 at the age of 58, Brigitte ran the laundries herself. She became ill in her later years and her daughter, Anna, ended up taking care of her. She died in 1959 at the age of 87.

I forgot to mention that I have seen the information at familysearch. I am not sure who submitted it though. I don't believe it was my Aunt who has done extensive research on these lines.

Hi there, are you related to Charles and Brigitte? It'd be great to know if you are a cousin.

I was a bit vague in the blog entry so as not be too detailed to be boring. LOL I do have the information on Charles' death as well as the census records for Charles and Brigitte. I also have an advertisement from the newspaper showing Charles running a laundry in Modesto, CA ca 1903. Some of my information comes from my Aunt, but I do have some documents myself.

If you are interested in this line, I would be happy to share more information.

Thanks for your comments!

I also assume you have Charles' various documents relating to his death on Christmas day in 1926 (as mentioned in our Documenting a Death group), and are working backwards in time. Have you contacted those who submitted his data to FamilySearch?

I assume this is the Charles & Brigette living in Oakland during the 1920 census, with immigration dates of 1885 and 1892.
Can you post a research log showing what sources you have already searched? There are so many available...
