I'm starting to unravel information on my father's side of the family.  My maiden name of Pooler.

For a long time my father's family specifically the Poolers have been a big mystery to me.   My father enlisted in the Navy in 1950.  He served during the Korean War.  His home port for many years was San Diego, California.  He was stationed at Great Lakes, Chicago where he met my mother in 1953.  She was sixteen.  They saw each other as much as they could and were engaged after 6 months.  The engagement lasted 3 years until his service time was up and she had graduated high school.

During my parents engagement he was sending money home from his pay to his family in Bucyrus, Ohio to put aside for starting a life with my mother.  When he returned home he found there was no money.  He pretty much cut off most communication with his family.

I remember visiting my paternal grandmother once when I was very young.  I don't remember how old I was.  My father mentioned his oldest sister, Jerri on and off when I was growing up but I never got to know her.  When I was twelve my oldest brother started a Pooler family tree but that was in the early 80's where there was no internet for resources.  He did come in contact with my father's older brother who lived in California.  My brother and cousin I didn't know until then managed to reunite the brother's on a TV show named Fantasy.  My brother's fantasy was for my dad my uncle to reunite after not speaking to one another for 29 years. That would have been the last time they spoke was about 1952 before my parents married in 1956.  It was great to see the brothers together but after the show aired communication between the brothers lessened again.

My father is still living but when his mother died in 1986, one sister death on 1974 other sister in 1999 and brother 2009 deaths he stated money was the reason for not going to the funerals.

My father was willing to open up more about my grandfather Pooler and some stories he heard when he was young about some family history.  I found 1900 & 1910 Federal census that showed his father was born in the year of about 1899.  My dad did know his grandfather's name as Henry William Pooler and wife Nancy.  My father was named after his grandfather.  I've heard stories fly between my older brothers and sisters that we were Dutch.... But found out that the Dutch that was talked about was Pennsylvania Dutch.
My research found that my dad's grandfather was born in Germany.  Finally today my dad mentioned what story exactly was about 3 brothers.  I originally thought the story about 3 brothers was my grandfather and 2 brothers. Not according to my dad. The 3 brothers were my great grandfather and his 2 brothers who came to the United States from Germany through Pennsylvania.

I have new questions to answer.
What is my great grandparents birth years?  Possible death years too.

What are my great grandfather's brother's names?

What year did they come to the states?
And what ship were they on when they did come to the United States.

I would love any feed back from anyone who might be familiar with the 3 brothers from Germany story.
