I am stumped. I am a descendent of an orphan train rider and would like to persue the biological line of my grandmother who was the orphan train rider. She was born in NYC in 1913 to the above couple (Rose Kelly used the last name of Scott on the birth certificate) as a legitimate birth. This Rose even had another child prior to the one given up. However, they could not care for her supposedly and relinquished her to the NewYork Foundling Hospital. I have all of that documentation. I've been to NYC & looked at the films for marriages from 1908 thru 1920 which also encompassed the Bronx (this couple's first address in the Bronx, then in Manhattan). No such marriage. I have a feeling that maybe they were married in a Catholic Church, but I've called all these before I made my last trip there and the secretaries have given me negative responses. No such couple being married. If I can't get a marriage record I can't go beyond these great grandparents and know very little about them even. Any help from anyone? Thanks, Margie

I have used the city directories, but the address that I have doesn't correspond to any of the John/J Scott in them; same with the WWI Draft Registrations. I have explored the census records also, because when my grandmother was given up to the NY Foundling Hospital her mother, Rose Scott sent a note about a week later telling the sisters that in case they need to reach her she will now be moving from #245 Brook Ave (which turned out to be in the Mott Haven area of the Bronx) where Mrs. Rose Scott's mother (Mrs. R. Kelly) lived to the new address of #109 East 127th (or 129th unclear on old paper) Street. As I said, my grandmother also Rose, has a legitimate birth record, but without the name of Rose, I think the sisters named her that in the files at the Foundling. It says her mother Rose Kelly Scott lived at 109 East 127th St. and was 29 years old and number of births to this woman 2, still now living. The father John Scott lived at the same address and was 29 years also. The birth occurred at Lebanon Hospital (in the Bronx I believe). I checked the 1910, 1920 and 1930. My grandmother died in 1936 at the age of 23 in Chicago and supposedly my mother's adopted family contacted Rose Scott and someone at the wake said they saw her. I think the father John maybe was deceased at that point...?Thank you everyone for all the help. I still see no light at the end of the tunnel. I am hoping somewhere down the line a new piece to this puzzle will emerge.Thank you margie
